How You Can Help Stop Hate Crime in Cumbria

Local charity Pride in North Cumbria and the PiNC run solidarity hub Free Radicals, are calling for people from across Cumbria to report incidents of hate they may have experienced to help stop hate crime occurring.

The call for action comes after evangelical preachers in Carlisle City Centre engaged in public preaching that PiNC believes to have crossed over from free speech into hate speech and harassment.

PiNC has reached out to Carlisle City Council, Cumbria County Council, Cumbria Constabulary and Conservative MP John Stevenson regarding their concerns.

PiNC and the Free Radicals hub want to stress that the issue of hate speech in the city centre is a community wide issue that is not just isolated to the LGBTQIA+ community.

If you have experienced hate speech in Cumbria, you can report the incident here via the Cumbria Police website.

This form is only for non-urgent incidents of hate, if you have an emergency please directly call 999.

If you would rather report an incident without having to contact the police directly, you can visit one of Cumbria's Hate Reporting Centre's.
