With all our rugby sides being roughly 9 games into the season, let’s see how they are getting on so far:
One of the county’s surprise package’s this season, Barrow have had a great side to life in the Championship after their League 1 title success last season.
They sit in 5th, with their standout player being winger Tee Ritson, who has 7 tries so far this season. They will end round 10 of fixtures with a difficult home tie on Monday against 3rd place York City Knights in what looks to be a great fixture for the neutrals.
Whitehaven have struggled to find their feet after losing star players Lachlan Walmsley and Louis Jouffret to Halifax.
They’ve had highs such as a West Cumbrian derby victory against rivals Workington, but have struggled in heavy defeats to Sheffield Eagles and Leigh Centurions, placing them in 11th.
Their season could see a shift this weekend when they face fellow mid-tablers Bradford Bulls this Sunday.
Unfortunately for Workington, their first season back in the Championship in 5 years isn’t going to plan as they are yet to get a point on the board. It will be a struggle for Town, but they have a chance to turn this around with a home tie against Batley on Sunday at 2pm.
It’s been an expected start from perennial title contenders Wath Brow Hornets so far this season.
They’ve won 5 of their first 8 games in the NCL with a draw against fellow challengers Thatto Heath away from home being another great result to add to their title challenge this season.
They have a weekend off this week but they look to carry on their season on the 7th May away at Hunslet.
Egremont have struggled to find their feet in the NCL Premier Division with only 2 wins in 8, and like their neighbours Wath Brow, they have a week off to prepare for their next game, which is a difficult home tie against current 2nd placed side Lock Lane that could make or break Rangers’ season.
How will our sides get on this season? Let’s hope for the best!
Psst, we're out here fighting for change.
